LUBBOCK, TX (NEWS RELEASE) – The Covenant Center for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine has been honored as a Wound Care Center® of the Year by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s leading and largest wound care management company. The center also was awarded Center of Distinction and the President’s Circle Award.

The center has achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent, a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 31 median days and healed almost 90 percent of its patients in less than 14 weeks. Out of the 630 Centers eligible in 2016, only seven centers across the country received this prestigious award. Covenant’s center was awarded as Center of the Year for the southwest region, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and New Mexico.
“To be acknowledged as a top tier wound care center not only in the Southwest, but also as one of the top seven in the nation is a tremendous honor,” said Walt Cathey, CEO of Covenant Medical Center. “It is a true testament to the hard work and dedication that this staff has contributed throughout the past year.”

Covenant’s wound care center, which opened in 2007, provided more than 1,100 patients with specialized treatment in 2016, often preventing amputations and helping patients return to active lives.

“Consistency is what separates our team from others,” said Victor Le Gloahec, director of the center. “It is relatively easy to do well at something for a short period of time, but to be able to continue that excellence over the course of a year is truly remarkable. We have always led with a quality-based mindset. It is genuinely remarkable to see the direct impact our team has on patients’ lives day-in and day-out.”

The Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 800 Centers, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds.  Covenant’s center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Some of the leading-edge treatments offered at the center include negative pressure wound therapy, debridement, application of cellular-based tissue or skin substitutes to the wound, offloading or total contact casts, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
